To seek and not find - pinō

There are those who will seek Jesus and not find Him, those who cannot find Him even if they tried.

Hopelessly ... and sadly these are those tormented by a spirit-of-self-righteousness-by-obeying-the-law ... or rather, those who allow that spirit to possess them.

In John 7 Jesus spoke to them.

Quoting Hosea 5:6 He says: Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come. Joh 7:34

Jesus here speaks to a specific group of people. The Pharisees. The ones opposing Grace and vehemently defending the law. Yet, they themselves are incapable to keep even the smallest part of it.

These are the people that say: "Thus saith the Lord" ... However, should you ask them who He is, they are unable to answer. They don't know Him. They don't know His character, His being. They have never sat down with Him. They have never met him. Else they would have known that He is merciful and gracious, patient and FULL of goodness and truth ... that there is not even a hint of darkness found in Him! 1 John 1:5

They would not seek Him to get to know Him, but to kill Him for bringing Grace in the place of the law they so love, the law they could (not) follow to work their own righteousness.

There is an agenda here. Just as there is an agenda today amongst those who defend the law.

Jesus had just explained how they seek to kill Him because he healed a man afflicted for 38 year on the Sabbath, whilst they themselves afflict people by circumcising them into the law. The one comes with much peace, whilst the other comes with much trauma.

The words of Jesus is in stark contrast to other old covenant teachings that promise that if you shall seek Him (God) you shall find Him (Pro 8:17, Jer 29:13, etc.). And this was indeed the case with many of the old covenant heroes also, but Jesus was dealing with a brood of vipers ... snakes ... devils who worshipped the law for their own self-centered reasons, to accomplish their own righteousness.

In verse 37 the invitation of Jesus echoes out towards everyone, including the law-possessed Pharisees:
If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink [Thayer: pinō - drink or figuratively, to receive into the soul what serves to refresh, strengthen, nourish it unto life eternal]. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. Joh 7:37-38
Those who drink of the law will drink and thirst and drink and thirst and drink and thirst ... and never be satisfied.

Jesus says to drink of Him and never thirst again.

Discard the adulterous relationship with the letter that kills. Drink deep of His Grace. Receive Goodness Himself. Receive Life Himself.

Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Rom 12:21

Today you have a choice on what (Who) to seek (drink), just as the Pharisees did:

The tree-of-the-knowledge-of-Good-and-evil (law - see here, mixture, Babylon) or the TREE-OF-LIFE (pure goodness Jesus).

Dearth and Life is placed before you ...

Chose Life!

Yah'shua - eternally good!

Fill your cup.

Drink deep!
