Do you have an icon - eikōn?

What is an icon?

Today we use the word icon mainly to refer to a person or thing held in high regard and/or as a representative symbol worthy of reverence ... or as an emblem for the very thing it signifies and gives value to. We have sports icons, heroes as iconic figures, iconic moments in history, etc.

Yet, the apostle Paul describes the true-early-church-meaning of the word when he greats the Colossians describing Jesus: "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature" Col 1:15

The word He uses for image is the Greek word eikōn or icon.

I just love James Clarke's explanation of the word when he says: "This is that form of God of which he divested himself; the ineffable glory in which he not only did not appear, as to its splendour and accompaniments, but concealed also its essential nature; that inaccessible light which no man, no created being, can possibly see. This was that Divine nature, the fulness of the Godhead bodily, which dwelt in him."

The Greek word eikōn literary means: to yield, to resemble exactly, a perfect copy image, a true resemblance ...

Yah'shua is the split image of God!

יהושע is the split image of יהוה !

Can you see it?

Yah'shua is Yahveh in every sense, in every fine detail ... in Person!

Paul further states in Colossians 1:19 "For it pleased the Father that in him [Yah'shua, Jesus] should all fulness dwell;

In Jesus dwells the FULLNESS of God.

In יהושע dwells the fullness of יהוה !

We preach every man of the fullness of God in Jesus in His wisdom so that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus Col 1:28

... and every man perfect in Jesus!

And again referring to our previous post here ...  "And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace." Joh 1:16

HalleluYAH!
